STATEMENT OF FAITH
_______________________________________________________
What We Believe:
About the Word
We believe that the Bible, all sixty-six books in the Old and New Testaments, is the true written message of God to us. We believe the authors of the Bible were inspired by God and are therefore completely trust-worthy. We believe that the Bible is the final authority on all matters to which it speaks. (Psalm 19: 7-11, 119; 105; Matthew 5: 18; 2 Timothy 3: 16-17; 2 Peter 1: 20-21)
About God
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power, glory and nature. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; Deut 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14) We believe the person of Jesus is both one hundred percent God, and one hundred percent man. We believe He is God brought
to earth, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. We believe He died on the cross to pay a debt He did not owe in order to satisfy the debt we could
not pay (our sin). We believe that Jesus Christ is seated in heaven at the right hand of God as a representative, intercessor and advocate for us. We believe He is coming back again to judge the living and the dead and to establish His kingdom. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. We further believe His power and gifts are available to believers today. (John 16: 8-11; 2 Corinthians 3: 6; 1 Corinthians 12: 12-14; Romans 8:9 Ephesians 5: 18)
About Man
We believe that man is the spiritual image of God and to be like Him in Character. He is the pinnacle of God’s Creation, created to fellowship with Him. We believe that through Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God.
About Eternity
We believe that man was created to exist forever. He will either exist forever in fellowship with God by salvation through Christ, or he will exist forever in opposition to Him and separated from Him. To exist in His fellowship is heaven; to be separated from Him is in hell. Both heaven and hell are eternal places.
About Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer for forgiveness can man be fully restored or saved from sin’s penalty. Man’s restoration to God’s Kingdom for eternity begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. There is no other way for man to spend eternity with God except through faith in Christ. (John 14: 6; 1: 12; Romans 6; 23; Ephesians 2: 8-9; Titus 3:5)
About Evangelism
We believe that soul-winning is the Great Commission given to the Church. (Matthew 28:16-20;Mark 16:15; 2 Cor. 5: 18 – 21; James 5: 20)
About Daily Christian Life
We believe that it is the will of God that we live a sanctified and holy life, growing constantly in the Faith. (Hebrews 6:1)
About Water Baptism
We believe that baptism by immersion, in water, is an outward sign of the inward work of salvation. (Matthew 28: 19)
About the Lord’s Supper
We believe in the commemoration of the Lord’s Supper by the symbolical use of the bread and the juice of the vine. (1 Cor. 11: 28)
About The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is to endue the believer with power, and that His empowering is after the same manner as in the Bible days. (Acts 1: 8; 2: 4.)
About Church Membership
We believe it is our sacred duty to identify and actively participate with the local and visible church of Christ. (Acts 16: 5)
About Civil Government
We believe that the laws of the land should be upheld at all times except in matters opposed to the Word of God. (Romans 13: 1-5)
About The Final Judgment
We believe that all shall stand one day before God’s final judgment, and there receive eternal reward or eternal judgment. (2 Cor. 5: 10)
About Union of Marriage
We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of a man and a woman. (Gen. 2:24; Rom. 7:2; 1Cor. 7:1-9; Eph. 5: 22-23)
About Human Sexuality
We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearances. (Gen. 2:24; Gen. 19: 4-13; Lev. 18: 1-18; Rom. 1: 26-29; 1 Cor. 5:1 & 6:9; 1 Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4)
Authority of Statement of Faith
The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. We do believe, however, that the foregoing statement of faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible and therefore is binding upon all members. All literature and teaching used in the church shall be in complete agreement with the statement of faith.
